DUNITE HISTORY

Intro to history of the Dunites who lived in the sand dunes south of Oceano from
1895 until 1974.

Their utopian colony of “Moy Mell” was created by Chester Alan Arthur III, grandson of U.S. President Chester Alan Arthur.
This short documentary features the last living Dunite, Elwood Decker.

Our very own local Dunite Historian, Norm Hammond was the main source for this story featured in KQED's,
The California Report Magazine.
Much of the historic information curated by Hammond came directly from artist and last of the living Dunites, Elwood Decker.
